2008 was an interesting time to start a business. The biggest financial crisis in global history and I decided to open a recruitment business in Ireland. Employment in Ireland was plummeting in all industries and many said I was crazy to undertake this task.
In 10 years the company has grown from just me in a home office placing 4 people in my first year to an amazing team of 8 people providing career opportunities for more than 70 people. This is our most productive year to date with still more to go.
The January AirFinance conference in 2009 was a significant investment but one that brought the introduction to one of our longest standing customers NAC. Other initial customers included Cabot Aviation (now Airpartner), Volito (now Seraph), Aercap, MUFG, ELFC and MCAP.
Total immersion proved to be a success, and I continued to invest in attending the various ISTAT and aviation conferences globally. With many successes in Asia this led to meeting many of the new Japanese and Chinese entrants.
In 2011, SMBC were in the process of purchasing RBS. SMBC mandated me to provide salary benchmarking information to assist them in their successful bid for RBS and retaining the management team going forward, it was an important aspect of the transaction for the new owners.
This also led to a similar assignment on behalf of MUFG when they purchased Jackson Square.
These two projects made me take stock and realise that Peak Performance was now viewed as an expert in the aircraft leasing industry as a leading recruitment and search company.
As we grew so did our service offering. We expanded from aviation finance and leasing to sourcing people for the aircraft parts, MRO and airline companies. We now have 3 people focused on recruitment for this area and are seeing huge growth in this sector.
I am very proud of all the work we have completed and relationships we have forged. We are now seeing people we placed in the early years becoming C Level management in their organisations.
All this would not have been possible without the help and efforts of an amazing team who work hard for our customers and just love what they do.
I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all our staff, customers, candidates and people who have helped us achieve great success in our first 10 years of business. It is a long road and these are only baby steps.
We look forward to seeing you at a future aviation event and continuing to partner you in your business or career.
